stayloose: (nozaki)

This is a list of all the chapters of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (as of Volume 12, the last published collected volume) that feature Mayu. As he's not part of the core cast, it's not as many as it might appear from looking at the manga as a whole (I'm not doing a Mikoshiba-focused list as it'd be roughly 90% of all the chapters anyway).

This is both for my own reference, and for anyone who wanted to do a quick canon review for Mayu. I've done a really brief summary of what happens in each chapter, mostly so I can remember, but it's not designed to capture everything!

Volume 4:
Chapter 33: Mayu's introduction
Chapter 37: Mayu and Mikoshiba end up waiting at Miyako's for Nozaki to get back.

Volume 5:
Chapter 43: Mayu learns to draw to get the Judo club to take grappling more seriously, start of the Mayu-Mayu plot line.

Volume 6:
Chapter 55: Mikoshiba and Chiyo visit the Nozaki household over the summer holidays, Mayu plays host.
Chapter 59: Mayu finally learns how to text properly with Mikoshiba as Mayu-Mayu (who's calling himself Mamiko).

Volume 7:
Chapter 64: Chiyo and Mikoshiba get fitness advice and motivation from Mayu.
Chapter 65: the extra at the end of the chapter has Mayu, Nozaki and Mikoshiba playing Kokkuri-san (a game a lot like using an Ouija Board), which is minor but cute.

Volume 8:
Chapter 76: Mikoshiba ropes Mayu into joining him on a group date so he doesn't have to go alone, and ends up declaring Mikoshiba is his when the girls try to drag him off afterwards.
Nozaki Family (Extra): introduces Yumeko, the little sister of both Mayu and Umetarou (who is cute but oblivious) and has Mayu pick out Kashima over Mikoshiba because she looks like she has better prospects.

Volume 9:
Chapter 81: Mayu, Mikoshiba and Wakamatsu sleep over and play a dating game together (which Mikoshiba has lied and said all his otaku stuff is Mayu's).
Chapter 82: the girls' counterpart to the sleep over above.

Volume 10:
Inside covers extra: Mikoshiba's gift for Mayu from the Kyoto school trip (as referenced in Chapter 92 where Mikoshiba thinks he needs to get Mayu a gift while they're planning the trip...just Mayu).
Chapter 93: not an actual appearance but after Yuzuki puts him in a choke hold and says she wishes Waka was there, Mikoshiba goes 'I still need to get Mayu a souvenir'. The extra has Mayu trying to hit Yuzuki up for a match via text after Mikoshiba worries he might be lonely.
Chapter 97: Mayu shows a better sense of manga pacing than his brother.

Volume 11:
Chapter 101: Mayu works as an assistant on the manga deadline from hell and ends up doing a really good job of it (and in a squat the entire time because why not).
Chapter 105: Chiyo and Mikoshiba show up on a day when Nozaki is working on a draft, Mayu has to kept them entertained. The three of them end up playing an otome game together.

Volume 12:
Chapter 114: Nozaki, Mikoshiba and Mayu end up running into Kashima's younger sister again (who's obsessed with shojo manga but likes darker takes) and discuss previous relationships (and Judo). When she asks for his name, Mayu tells her that all questions must go through Mikoto-san and hides behind him. It ends with a twist of Mayu-Mayu finally adding a guy to one of their drawings??

Names:
Mayu calls him Mikito-san, vetoes calling him senpai because he doesn't do sports.
Mikoshiba just calls him Mayu, no -kun.
