Trick or Treat Exchange 2020 Letter

Hi! Thank you for creating for me, or for just taking a look at my letter!
I'm requesting both art and fic for this exchange. All the prompts and ideas I've listed are, of course, just suggestions and you can use them or not as you wish. For this exchange I am listing my DNWs individually for fandoms because they vary a lot depending on the canon.
Tricks:
I am interested in spooky and creepy things for tricks, but not slasher style horror. For example, ghosts, mysterious bumps in the night or the universe not working as it should be is what I'm interested in. I'm not into body horror, serial killers or graphic violence.
Treats:
For treats, I would enjoy seasonal themed works. This doesn't just mean Halloween themes, it could be anything autumn themed. If you're inspired to go in a non-seasonal direction, however, I would be interested in that as well! I do like angst, even in lighter works.

I like both sketchy styles and more smooth, polished styles. Also if you were interested in doing something influenced by Ukiyo-e, I would be into that.
This is one of my favourite games. I love the weird, beautiful world of it, and even the battle system. Yes, it is based on early Dragon Quest games but it still has so much personality. Particularly the battle music. There's some very creepy stuff in there too, especially the final battle.
I'm interested in exploring this world further! The general prompts are ideas that I think could work with any character I've requested, and I've also provided some character specific ones too. Please add any characters from the game you want, even if I've not requested them. I’ve not played Mother 3 yet but I know who the villain is, so you can refer to that if you’re writing about Picky.

*The Tonzaka brothers/Runaway Five have a Halloween themed show, and they need the party's help to organise it. This could be just setting it up to going and catching some weird enemies for the stage show.
*Halloween costumes. The goofier the better!
*Anything involving the weirder enemies or characters. Yellow Brick Road turns himself into a maze. The Ducks. The bosses who all claim to be the third strongest boss in the dungeon.
*The Tengas village. It's such a curious place. What exactly made them shy? One of the characters finds out. It could be creepy, it could be lighter in tone.
*Welcome to Moonside. What if it was much harder to get out of the strange, parallel Fourside?
*Abstract Expressionism attacking, either played straight or for laughs.
*More seriously, living in a world where anything can and has attacked you would probably make the main party very paranoid afterwards. How does it affect them?
*Giygas creeped me out so much when I first encountered this game as a youngster, so if you want to explore why he's so creepy, I would be interested in that.
*Game mechanics being used or referenced in your work would be very interesting.
*Homesickness. Both as it's shown in game and as an even more serious impediment.
*Ness' dad is off screen all game. It's implied it's because of his job. Is it something more supernatural than that? Is it actually his dad he's calling or something else?
*Expanding on her time stuck in that cabin, waiting to be rescued.
*Her family seems relaxed about her psychic powers in game. What was it like when she first got them? Both for Paula and her family.
*Anything about her psychic powers and ability to see the future would be really interesting. She's very confident about the accuracy of her visions, but what if it didn't work out as she expected?
*Picky is the only member of the Minch family who isn't a terrible person. He also gets left behind when the rest of his family run off to Fourside. I am interested in how he feels about this and how it plays out.
*Pokey vanishes, for all intents and purposes for Picky, at the end of the game. Does he try to look for him? Does he try to forget the whole thing? Does he discover things about his brother that frankly, he wished he didn't know?
*Picky gets to have his own adventure. It might be a lot smaller than the main cast's, but it's his.
*Picky meets the Tengas. They're shy.
It’s a series about ninjas! Also former child soldiers, which covers both of the characters I’m requesting. The worldbuilding is also a big part of my interest in Naruto, even if it sometimes didn’t really do much with it in canon. Since Naruto can be fairly dark in places, my requests focus on that aspect of it, but my general likes apply here and if you’d like to create something lighter, I would also be interested in that.
I picked these two characters because they’re my favourites. I like how they’re both stoic, and shouldering large burdens, both in their pasts and by being able to use powers that aren’t really theirs. Their attitudes towards their pasts and general demeanour is quite different, though!
The only non-canon pairing I'm requesting is Kakashi/Yamato. Otherwise, as per my DNWs, I'm asking for gen for my requested characters!

*Nightmares. Plenty of things in his past to have nightmares about! Some comfort afterwards would be nice but not required.

*Haunted by a ghost. Maybe while hiding out on a mission, or at home, or anywhere else.
*Sakumo reappears, either as a ghost or something else, and triggers very mixed feelings in Kakashi. I’d be interested in this either before or after Obito’s (supposed) death changes Kakashi’s mind on him.
*Hurt/comfort. Kakashi would be determined to soldier through it, regardless of the circumstances.
*Kakashi pre bridge mission getting in way over his head on a mission and just making it worse for himself instead of just admitting he needs help. Maybe his team (or Minato alone) eventually fish him out of it. Maybe they don't.
*Related, older Kakashi gets whumped and refuses to admit or deal with it because he thinks he deserved it.
*ANBU related trauma.
*Grief and its consequences. This is such a big part of his character, that he's grieving for so many people. I would be interested in works about this.
*Being stuck in a dream world and trying to get out of it, successful or not.
*His backstory is horrifying. Despite that, it doesn't seem to weigh heavily on him, especially compared to other members of the cast. I would love this to be explored, especially if he's not as okay with it as he acts.
*Hurt/comfort. A mission gone wrong, being trapped somewhere with some people that are determined to kill him (or them, if he’s on a mission with Kakashi/other ANBUs), while struggling with an injury or illness. That soctic behaviour pushed to its limits.
*Nightmares. Plenty of things in his past to have nightmares about! Some comfort afterwards would be nice but not required.
*The Fourth War arc was very frustrating for me to read in real time because he spent all of it stuck in a tree. If you would like to make his war arc more interesting, I would be interested.
*Being stuck in a dream world and trying to get out of it, successful or not.
*I am also interested in recovery fic set after canon. From his war experience? Maybe that's enough, or maybe that's the straw that broke the camel's back. I would particularly like Kakashi helping him but anyone in Team 7 would be nice. Or Tsunade, although I don't know if she has the patience for it.
*Mokuton. Not as body horror 'it's taking over me' but more 'this is very difficult to control and I've experienced so much already'. Seasonal changes in using Mokuton would be interesting too! Basically, just anything about it. It's one of my favourite jutsus. If you're doing art, I love Mokuton related art for him so much!
*ANBU related trauma
*I like his relationship with Sai, how their pasts are similar yet they've diverged along the way. If you're interested in that too, I would like to see your take on it.

This show has so many genre shifts during its course that I feel like you could pretty much throw in any genre here and it’d fit. It’s a deeply weird show and that’s part of why I love it, despite its flaws. The other reason I love it is the characters. Masayoshi and Gotou both grow so much in the show, and Gotou, despite appearing to be the one who sort of has his life together, is probably the most messed up character in the show. I love how Gotou and Masayoshi’s relationship develops in the show, and how they end up being so important to each other. I ship it. I also find the final scene a little more ambiguous than some people do, in that they still might be edging their way into a proper relationship.
I haven’t explicitly requested the Flamenco Girls but please feel free to include them! Or any other cast members you’d like to use. I’ve also read the manga so if you’d like to reference that, you can and I’ll get it!

*He would never intentionally use his reality bending powers for what he’d consider evil ends. But I am interested in Masayoshi accidentally bending reality in a way that isn’t to make reality like TV shows and the consequences of that.
*Related to the above: Masayoshi is terrified he’s accidentally forced Gotou to fall in love with him because he loves him enough to warp reality to make it happen. Either treated seriously or more lightly.
*Time loops but played more for despair, although ideally I would like an eventual break out after being put through the wringer.
*Hurt/comfort. If Masayoshi got hurt but insisted on comforting Gotou, that would be very much my jam.
*Halloween costumes. Masayoshi would want to do a team Halloween costume. Would anyone actually agree to do it?
*Masayoshi gets mistaken for someone in a (very poor) costume of Samurai Flamenco when he’s out on duty on Halloween. Or loses a lookalike contest.
*Gotou appears to have vanished from existence and Masayoshi is the only person who remembers him. Maybe aliens did it, maybe someone else got their wish granted by saying ‘flamenco’ enough, maybe reality just warped weirdly again. I would like Masayoshi to eventually find him again but it can definitely be drawn out, and feature a lot of doubt.
*Being stuck in a dream world and trying to get out of it, successful or not. I feel Masayoshi would realise quite quickly that things were not right, but finding how to get out is a lot harder.
*I loved the chapter in the manga where Gotou won a quiz about Samurai Flamenco. Gotou acing any sort of trivia quiz, even one not all about Masayoshi.
*Time loops but played more for despair, although ideally I would like an eventual break out after being put through the wringer.
*Hurt/comfort. Gotou refuses to admit anything is wrong even when he’s seriously injured, or aliens did something, or anything else.
*Gotou is sent to a house to investigate a strange call the police received. It turns out to be more supernatural than expected. A ghost? Some sort of past memory echoing through into the present?
*Gotou being haunted by his missing girlfriend, possibly like he is in canon, or much more literally. Is she really a ghost? A hallucination caused by his guilt increasing as he gets closer to other people again despite himself? Or something else entirely? Something much more sinister...
*Being stuck in a dream world, but it’s one where his girlfriend isn’t missing. I feel he’d be torn between staying and going back, and I’d be interested in him either giving in and staying there, or breaking out. Or does he get forcibly dragged out instead?
*Anything to do with Gotou’s girlfriend, really.
*Nightmares. Gotou has plenty to have nightmares about. Some comfort afterwards might be nice, but it’s not required.
*Gotou's POV when he's waiting for Masayoshi to return to Earth when he goes to see Alien Flamenco. All that staring at the moon, smoking...What exactly was he thinking?
*Masayoshi vanishes from existence and only Gotou remembers him. Maybe aliens did it, maybe someone else got their wish granted by saying ‘flamenco’ enough, maybe reality just warped weirdly again. Ideally I’d like Masayoshi to return but perhaps...not. Perhaps Gotou even ends up believing the whole thing was just his imagination.
*Gotou does kill Haiji and it sets off a very bad series of events. It could be what Haiji planned to happen, it could be a different set of bad events. It could also be disastrous for the relationship between him and Masayoshi.
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2 isn’t spooky at all, but the dating mechanics are if you think about them in a serious context that isn’t a video game. I would also like cute, dating stuff for this game too, including haunted house shenanigans that may or may not involve real ghosts!
If you don't like Daisy, I don't mind another name for the female protagonist as long as it's Japanese. I've used it for ease because it's her established nickname! She can be as dense as she is in game, or more savvy.
For these prompts, I’m happy for Daisy to be paired up with any of her in-game dating options, or one of her female friends. I particularly like Akagi and Shiba (which is why I’ve also included them too!).

Daisy is conscious of being able to save and 'rewind' time, and uses it to her advantage to redo dates, homework, school etc. It'd be interesting if she thought nobody else knew she was doing it but in fact, they do. They just haven't realised she's the one doing it yet.
*Any other game mechanics showing up to Daisy. Say, she’s on a date and the love mode starts and Daisy suddenly sees lots of pink hearts everywhere and is left wondering what on earth is going on. Maybe other people can see it, maybe it’s just her.
*Cute autumn date stuff! Going to look at falling leaves, scarves, hot chocolate, all the works. Pumpkins everywhere.
*Daisy is determined to do matching costumes for Halloween. They could be cute! Or they could end up being dressed up as a pair of shoes, or something else just as ridiculous.
*Trapped in a haunted house with a love interest. There could be a real ghost, there might not be. Either way, someone’s getting deafened by her screaming.
*Akagi figures out he’s living in a video game. Either played for the existential horror of it (what happens when someone turns off the console?), or for laughs (he tries to game his life and fails miserably because he’s not, in fact, the protagonist).
*Trapped in a haunted house with Daisy, but certain that there’s no such thing as ghosts. Naturally, it turns out that there might in fact be a ghost.
*Akagi’s lack of a sense of direction ends up with him wandering lost, alone, late at night. Are those lights from a human source, or is it something more supernatural?
*Time loops. Is it one of the days where he meets Daisy that keeps looping, again and again?
*Shiba figures out he’s living in a video game. Either played for the existential horror of it (what happens when someone turns off the console?), or for laughs (Shiba figures out it’s Daisy who’s the protagonist and teases her relentlessly about it).
*Trapped in a haunted house with Daisy. Shiba isn’t afraid, he’s probably going to try to get handsy instead, ghost or no ghost. If Daisy’s scared, he knows a great way to help her with that (by getting handsy). It could turn out to be a ghost, but honestly, it’d be funny if it was someone in a costume and they end up breaking character to tell them to get a room.
*Time loops. Maybe Shiba wakes up and finds himself stuck in a loop of the worst day of his life aka that baseball match in middle school, and tries to fix it but keeps not working out. Maybe he needs to pull in help to break out of it. It could be Daisy, but I’d also be interested to see Masaki since they’ve known each other since childhood.
*Shiba and Masaki at Halloween as kids. It could be cutesy, it could be spooky, it could be both!

Since the show can be fairly dark in places, my prompts are mostly focused on that aspect of it, with some lighter ones too, but my general likes apply here and if you’d like to create something lighter, I would also be interested in that.

Character: Hazama Masayoshi
*He would never intentionally use his reality bending powers for what he’d consider evil ends. But I am interested in Masayoshi accidentally bending reality in a way that isn’t to make reality like TV shows and the consequences of that.
*Related to the above: Masayoshi is terrified he’s accidentally forced Gotou to fall in love with him because he loves him enough to warp reality to make it happen. Either treated seriously or more lightly.
*Time loops but played more for despair, although ideally I would like an eventual break out after being put through the wringer.
*Hurt/comfort. If Masayoshi got hurt but insisted on comforting Gotou, that would be very much my jam.
*Halloween costumes. Masayoshi would want to do a team Halloween costume. Would anyone actually agree to do it?
*Masayoshi gets mistaken for someone in a (very poor) costume of Samurai Flamenco when he’s out on duty on Halloween. Or loses a lookalike contest.
*Gotou appears to have vanished from existence and Masayoshi is the only person who remembers him. Maybe aliens did it, maybe someone else got their wish granted by saying ‘flamenco’ enough, maybe reality just warped weirdly again. I would like Masayoshi to eventually find him again but it can definitely be drawn out, and feature a lot of doubt.
*Being stuck in a dream world and trying to get out of it, successful or not. I feel Masayoshi would realise quite quickly that things were not right, but finding how to get out is a lot harder.
Character: Gotou Hidenori
*I loved the chapter in the manga where Gotou won a quiz about Samurai Flamenco. Gotou acing any sort of trivia quiz, even one not all about Masayoshi.
*Time loops but played more for despair, although ideally I would like an eventual break out after being put through the wringer.
*Hurt/comfort. Gotou refuses to admit anything is wrong even when he’s seriously injured, or aliens did something, or anything else.
*Gotou is sent to a house to investigate a strange call the police received. It turns out to be more supernatural than expected. A ghost? Some sort of past memory echoing through into the present?
*Gotou being haunted by his missing girlfriend, possibly like he is in canon, or much more literally. Is she really a ghost? A hallucination caused by his guilt increasing as he gets closer to other people again despite himself? Or something else entirely? Something much more sinister...
*Being stuck in a dream world, but it’s one where his girlfriend isn’t missing. I feel he’d be torn between staying and going back, and I’d be interested in him either giving in and staying there, or breaking out. Or does he get forcibly dragged out instead?
*Anything to do with Gotou’s girlfriend, really.
*Nightmares. Gotou has plenty to have nightmares about. Some comfort afterwards might be nice, but it’s not required.
*Gotou's POV when he's waiting for Masayoshi to return to Earth when he goes to see Alien Flamenco. All that staring at the moon, smoking...What exactly was he thinking?
*Masayoshi vanishes from existence and only Gotou remembers him. Maybe aliens did it, maybe someone else got their wish granted by saying ‘flamenco’ enough, maybe reality just warped weirdly again. Ideally I’d like Masayoshi to return but perhaps...not. Perhaps Gotou even ends up believing the whole thing was just his imagination.
*Gotou does kill Haiji and it sets off a very bad series of events. It could be what Haiji planned to happen, it could be a different set of bad events. It could also be disastrous for the relationship between him and Masayoshi.
Fandom: Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2 isn’t spooky at all, but the dating mechanics are if you think about them in a serious context that isn’t a video game. I would also like cute, dating stuff for this game too, including haunted house shenanigans that may or may not involve real ghosts!
If you don't like Daisy, I don't mind another name for the female protagonist as long as it's Japanese. I've used it for ease because it's her established nickname! She can be as dense as she is in game, or more savvy.
For these prompts, I’m happy for Daisy to be paired up with any of her in-game dating options, or one of her female friends. I particularly like Akagi and Shiba (which is why I’ve also included them too!).

Character: Daisy
*The in-universe consequences of scum saving. Daisy is conscious of being able to save and 'rewind' time, and uses it to her advantage to redo dates, homework, school etc. It'd be interesting if she thought nobody else knew she was doing it but in fact, they do. They just haven't realised she's the one doing it yet.
*Any other game mechanics showing up to Daisy. Say, she’s on a date and the love mode starts and Daisy suddenly sees lots of pink hearts everywhere and is left wondering what on earth is going on. Maybe other people can see it, maybe it’s just her.
*Cute autumn date stuff! Going to look at falling leaves, scarves, hot chocolate, all the works. Pumpkins everywhere.
*Daisy is determined to do matching costumes for Halloween. They could be cute! Or they could end up being dressed up as a pair of shoes, or something else just as ridiculous.
*Trapped in a haunted house with a love interest. There could be a real ghost, there might not be. Either way, someone’s getting deafened by her screaming.
Character: Kazuyuki Akagi
*Akagi figures out he’s living in a video game. Either played for the existential horror of it (what happens when someone turns off the console?), or for laughs (he tries to game his life and fails miserably because he’s not, in fact, the protagonist).
*Trapped in a haunted house with Daisy, but certain that there’s no such thing as ghosts. Naturally, it turns out that there might in fact be a ghost.
*Akagi’s lack of a sense of direction ends up with him wandering lost, alone, late at night. Are those lights from a human source, or is it something more supernatural?
*Time loops. Is it one of the days where he meets Daisy that keeps looping, again and again?
Character: Shiba Katsumi
*Shiba figures out he’s living in a video game. Either played for the existential horror of it (what happens when someone turns off the console?), or for laughs (Shiba figures out it’s Daisy who’s the protagonist and teases her relentlessly about it).
*Trapped in a haunted house with Daisy. Shiba isn’t afraid, he’s probably going to try to get handsy instead, ghost or no ghost. If Daisy’s scared, he knows a great way to help her with that (by getting handsy). It could turn out to be a ghost, but honestly, it’d be funny if it was someone in a costume and they end up breaking character to tell them to get a room.
*Time loops. Maybe Shiba wakes up and finds himself stuck in a loop of the worst day of his life aka that baseball match in middle school, and tries to fix it but keeps not working out. Maybe he needs to pull in help to break out of it. It could be Daisy, but I’d also be interested to see Masaki since they’ve known each other since childhood.
*Shiba and Masaki at Halloween as kids. It could be cutesy, it could be spooky, it could be both!
